A car struck and killed a 3-year-old boy in Wilmington, Delaware on Sunday morning.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. on the 500 block of South Madison Street, where the Wilmington Police Department responded to a report of a car-pedestrian collision.
According to officials, the boy was the son of an off-duty Wilmington firefighter who was attending a memorial walk for three city firefighters who died in a fire at Canby Park on the same date in 2016.
The driver of the car was another off-duty firefighter who was trying to park his vehicle to join the event.
3-yr-old Wes Nicholson was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.
