Sherman Vannoy,17, hit and killed by 78-yr-old school bus driver

A tragic accident claimed the life of a Lake Minneola High School senior on Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol and Lake County Schools. Sherman Vannoy, 17, was riding his bicycle to school when he was hit by a school bus near the school entrance at N. Hancock Road and Fox Trail Avenue in Clermont. The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. and Sherman was taken to South Lake Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The school bus driver, a 78-year-old woman, tried to avoid hitting Sherman as he crossed the intersection on a marked crosswalk, but could not swerve in time.
