James Collard, 55, of Rockford, passenger killed in Ogle County crash

Two people died after a single-vehicle crash in Ogle County Saturday morning.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 10:30 near the intersection of Marrill Road and Holcomb Road.

Deputies said a blue van was traveling south on Marrill Road and failed to stop at a stop sign.

The van continued south before losing control, entering a ditch and ended up in a creek embankment, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver, Matthew Frank, 26, of Byron, and the passenger, James Collard, 55, of Rockford, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
