Anderson, IN – Unlawful Pursuit Crash Claims Lives of John and Karol Lewellen, Injures Four Others Anderson, IN (October 16, 2023) – A couple from Anderson lost their lives in a horrific three-vehicle collision on Sunday, October 15, 2023. The accident occurred when a car that was being chased by Pendleton police crashed into two other cars in Anderson, a city about 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis. The victims were identified as John E. Lewellen, 74, and Karol K. Lewellen, 68. Four people from the other car were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The pursuit started in Pendleton and ended in Anderson with the fatal crash. The suspect who was being pursued was also injured and arrested by the authorities. The suspect’s name has not been released yet, as the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office is still deciding on the charges. The reason for the pursuit is also unknown at this time.
