Fifth-grade student killed in Kentucky crash

A high-speed chase on Interstate 71 ended in a fatal collision on Saturday, September 16, 2023. According to Kentucky State Police, the suspect was driving southbound on I-71 when he tried to evade a traffic stop around 3:30 p.m. He then took Exit 14 and crashed into an SUV that was going north on Kentucky Highway 329.

The SUV had a fifth-grade student from Kenwood Station Elementary, Jake Luxemburger, who succumbed to his injuries. The principal of the school remembered Jake as a joyful and kind-hearted kid. The driver of the SUV survived with minor injuries.

The police are still investigating the incident.
