Brinkley Thomas, 43, passenger killed in Louisiana car crash

A car crash on Monday morning claimed the lives of two Columbia residents, according to Louisiana State Police. The accident occurred around 7 a.m. on LA Hwy 133 near Bellview Lane in Caldwell Parish. The victims were identified as Melanie Gray, 60, and Brinkley Thomas, 43, who were traveling in a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. The car veered off the road and hit a tree, ejecting both occupants who were not wearing seat belts. They died from their injuries at the scene. Troopers are conducting a toxicology test to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash.
