A tractor-trailer leaving a truck stop in southwest Iowa hit and killed a woman from North Carolina on Friday morning. The Iowa State Patrol said the semi driver, a 44-year-old man from Glenwood, was turning south after exiting the parking lot near Percival, across the river from Nebraska City, around 8 a.m. He did not see the pedestrian, Debora Lee Turbett, 65, of Lexington, North Carolina, and ran her over. She died at the scene.
