A historic sailing ship’s main mast snapped and crashed onto the deck, killing one and injuring three others, off the coast of Maine on Monday. The 140-year-old schooner Grace Bailey was on its way back from a four-day cruise when the mast broke, according to the owner’s statement. A coastguard vessel that was nearby quickly rescued the passengers and took them to shore. One of the injured died from their wounds, while the others were flown or driven to hospitals, the Rockland Fire Department said.
