A car and a tractor-trailer collided early this morning on Interstate 95 South in Baltimore County, leaving one person dead and another injured, according to Maryland State Police.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near Chesaco Avenue, where a 2019 Nissan Altima was apparently stalled in the third lane. A tractor-trailer hit the rear of the Nissan, causing severe damage to both vehicles.
The Nissan’s passenger, Denzel Butcher, 31, of Garrison Ave, Baltimore, Maryland, died at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, a 28-year-old man, was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment. The tractor-trailer’s driver and passenger did not need medical attention.
The crash closed I-95 South for about five hours. Maryland Transportation Authority Police and State Highway Administration personnel helped with the road closure. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is investigating the crash with help from troopers from the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
