Donald Schaefer, 67, killed in Troupe Recycling work accident

A workplace accident at an Abington recycling company claimed the life of a 67-year-old Braintree man on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

The victim, identified as Donald Schaefer, was an employee of Troupe Recycling, located at 1477 Bedford St. He fell off a forklift around 1:40 p.m. and suffered fatal injuries, according to a statement from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

Another employee of the company called 911 and Abington Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene. They attempted to revive Schaefer and transported him by ambulance to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, where he was pronounced dead.
