Tyler Schmitz, 197th St W, killed in motorcycle accident

Fatal Motorcycle Crash on U.S. 14 in Blue Earth County A tragic accident involving a motorcycle and a sedan took place on Tuesday afternoon in Le Ray Township, MN, according to the Minnesota Highway Patrol. The collision resulted in the death of Tyler Schmitz, an 18-year-old from Farmington, who was riding a 1999 CBR600RR motorcycle. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 14, where Schmitz was heading eastbound. A 2010 Chevrolet Malibu sedan, driven by a 27-year-old man from Elysian, was coming from the opposite direction and turned southbound on 610th Street. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing fatal injuries to Schmitz, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System for treatment. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the authorities.
