A tragic collision involving a tractor, a car, and a motorcycle resulted in the deaths of two motorcyclists on Tuesday afternoon in Saline County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 65, near Arbor Road. According to the preliminary report by the agency, a 28-year-old man was driving a 2018 Kubota tractor southbound on the highway and was trying to make a left turn onto Arbor Road. A 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by a 29-year-old Malta Bend man, attempted to pass the tractor on the left but hit a towed unit behind it. The impact caused the motorcycle to veer into the northbound lanes and collide head-on with a 2003 Chevrolet Impala.
The driver of the motorcycle and his passenger, identified as 41-year-old Jaime E. Kelly, both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car and the tractor were not injured in the crash.
