A wrong-way driver causes a fatal four-car collision on I-44
A woman driving in the wrong direction on I-44 in Franklin County caused a deadly crash that killed her and two others early Sunday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the woman, identified as Tina Degonia, 64, of House Springs, Mo., was driving a 2020 Jeep Cherokee eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-44 near the 240-mile marker. She collided head-on with a 2017 Nissan Rogue, then continued to hit a 2010 Toyota Corolla and a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The impact of the crash was fatal for Degonia and the occupants of the Nissan Rogue, Sabrina Sutton, 26, and Rachel Worley, 27, both of Fishers, In. They were pronounced dead at the hospital. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
