Steven Childers of Malden killed in New Madrid crash

A fatal collision in New Madrid County claimed the life of one man and injured another on October 11. The crash happened around 6:25 a.m. on US 60 South and Route E, near Morehouse.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 19-year-old Gabriel Massey of Sikeston was driving a vehicle that failed to yield at a stop sign and hit another vehicle driven by 23-year-old Steven Childers II of Malden. A MoDOT stop sign was also damaged in the crash.

Childers died at the scene and was taken to the New Madrid County Morgue. New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle pronounced him dead at 7:36 a.m.
