Adriana Alvarez, 32, killed in work accident at Hornady Manufacturing

A deadly explosion at a Hornady Manufacturing building claimed the life of a Grand Island woman on Friday morning. The Nebraska State Fire Marshal’s Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Adriana Alvarez, who worked at the Hornady plant.

The blast occurred at 9:47 a.m. in the chemical compound building, located at 8318 W Old Potash Highway. The site is part of the former Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, about four miles northwest of Alda. Alvarez died at the scene from the explosion.
