Lissanne Reyes Mejia 35 killed in NJ on Interstate 287

A crash on Tuesday night claimed the life of a Middlesex County woman and left four others severely injured on Interstate 287.

The incident happened at 7:33 p.m. on I-287 southbound near milepost 18.4, according to Sergeant Philip Curry of the New Jersey State Police.

Felipe Exposito-Sanchez, 24, of Linden, driving an Infiniti, veered off-road, attempting to overtake a Nissan.

On re-entering, the Infiniti collided with the Nissan’s front left.

The Infiniti then veered off again, striking several trees. Lissanne Reyes Mejia, 35, a passenger, succumbed to her injuries.

Exposito-Sanchez and three passengers sustained severe injuries. The Nissan’s driver remained unharmed.

Traffic was affected for about 5 hours. The investigation is still ongoing.
