Elmer Mendoza 36 of Kane killed in Montauk Hwy accident

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 36-year-old man in Bellport on Saturday night. Elmer Mendoza, a Medford resident, was crossing Montauk Highway from north to south when he was struck by a 2013 Ford F-150 Raptor at around 6:55 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The driver of the Ford, a 45-year-old man from East Patchogue, was not injured and remained at the scene. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
