A car hit and killed an elderly man as he tried to cross the street in Washington Heights on Thursday evening, according to authorities.
Police said they received calls about the crash around 6:53 p.m. at West 161 Street and Broadway. They found Julio Plaza, 76, a Washington Heights resident, lying on the road with severe injuries to his head and body. He was unconscious and not breathing, police said.
