Kamari Hughes killed by truck on Brooklyn street

BROOKLYN, NY, (October 26, 2023) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 7-year-old boy who was hit by a New York Police Department (NYPD) tow truck in Brooklyn on Thursday morning. Kamari Hughes was riding his scooter to school when he was struck by the truck at the intersection of Myrtle and North Portland avenues in Fort Greene around 8 a.m. The truck was turning right onto North Portland when it collided with the boy, who died at the scene. The NYPD is investigating the crash and reviewing witness statements and video footage from the area.
