Krystyna Naprawa, 81st St Howard Beach killed by dump truck

Crossing guard loses life in Queens dump-truck collision. Krystyna Naprawa, 63, was helping pedestrians cross the street when she was struck by a turning truck QUEENS, NY, (October 20, 2023) – A fatal pedestrian accident claimed the life of a dedicated crossing guard on Friday morning in Queens. Krystyna Naprawa was hit by a dump truck at Woodhaven Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue. According to police, Krystyna Naprawa, 63, had just assisted five people to cross the street safely when she was hit by the truck, which was making a right turn from Woodhaven Boulevard onto Atlantic Avenue. Naprawa had been serving as a crossing guard for the New York Police Department since 2010. She resided in the Howard Beach neighborhood of Queens after immigrating to New York from Poland 40 years ago. The community and her colleagues mourned her loss.
