A fatal hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a 47-year-old woman in Ballston Spa on Wednesday morning. Meredith L. Hamilton was crossing state Route 50 near Brookline Road when she was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Gary A. Lucas, 37, of Schenectady. Lucas fled the scene without reporting the incident, but was later arrested by State Police. He faces a class “D” felony charge for leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, a violation of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Hamilton suffered severe injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
