Fatal shooting at improvised gun range in Iredell County MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A man lost his life after being shot at an improvised gun range in Iredell County on Saturday, according to deputies. The incident occurred near a power line right-of-way close to Nance Farm Road in Mooresville, they said. Deputies who arrived at the scene discovered 46-year-old David Shane Nance with a bullet wound in his chest. They interviewed relatives and neighbors of the victim and learned that Nance and the shooter were acquainted. The sheriff stated that the shooter was the same person who reported the shooting to 911 and that he was cooperating with the investigation. The case remains open and the evidence is being examined, officials said. There could be a claim against the property owner’s insurance company.
