Bailey Bernstein, 5th Street Wahpeton, killed by drunk driver

A young woman’s life was cut short by a drunk driver who fled the scene in Wahpeton, North Dakota. Bailey Jo Bernstein, 20, died on Sunday, October 15, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, after being struck by a pickup truck on Thursday, October 12. She was walking with her mother on the 400 block of 11th Avenue South when the crash happened around 7:40 p.m.

The driver of the pickup, 52-year-old Chad Olson of Wahpeton, was later arrested and charged with criminal vehicular homicide and duty in accident involving death or injury. According to court documents, Olson had been drinking before the crash and fell asleep at the wheel.
