Jacob Moler, 25, of Mt. Orab killed in Hamilton work accident

The victim of a fatal heavy machinery accident in Hamilton on Tuesday has been identified as Jacob Moler, 25, of Mt. Orab. He suffered multiple traumatic injuries, the Butler County Coroner’s Office said.

Moler and another worker, whose name and condition are unknown, were operating a 30,000-pound rubber tire roller near Meijer and Skyline Chili around 4 p.m. when the machine malfunctioned and failed to stop . They rode the roller down Old Oxford Road before turning into the grass near the intersection of Old Oxford Road, Hamilton Richmond Road and Main Street.

The roller flipped over and rolled several times in the grass, losing four tires and other parts. Moler was killed in the crash, while the other worker was taken to a hospital and later airlifted to another hospital.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident. The workers were employed by a contractor working on a site along Old Oxford Road.
