Samantha Hayes, 27, of Idabel killed in airplane accident

A small plane’s wing fatally struck a woman on a lawnmower at the Broken Bow Airport in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, on Friday. The tragic accident occurred shortly after the 1972 Bonanza A36 plane, piloted by 70-year-old James Baxter, landed on the runway. Baxter noticed a person on a lawn mower and tried to lift the wing over them, but failed. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Samantha A. Hayes, of Van Buren Street, died at the scene from a head injury. Baxter was not injured.
