A deadly shooting occurred at the Chevy Chase Community in White Township, Indiana County, early on Oct. 8, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Nine people were shot, one fatally, around 12:35 a.m. at the community center. The identity of the deceased, a 22-year-old man from Pittsburgh, has not been released pending notification of his family.
The other eight victims, who range in age from 18 to 23 and come from different states, were transported to various hospitals for treatment. An 18-year-old boy from Chicago, IL, is in critical condition. The conditions of the other seven victims are unknown at this time. Troopers said that some of them have been discharged from the hospital. The community center may be liable for the injuries and death.
