A Bethlehem woman, 72, died after a speeding car hit her SUV as she was leaving a driveway in Franconia Township, Montgomery County, on Thursday evening. Police said Paula Ann Wilson of Knollwood Rd had her 7-year-old granddaughter with her in the Ford Explorer when the collision occurred around 5:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Mininger Road. The driver of the car, a 20-year-old Hatfield man, escaped from his Dodge Challenger, which caught fire briefly. Wilson was taken to Grand View Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Witnesses told police that the man was driving west on Mininger Road “at a high rate of speed” when he crashed into Wilson’s SUV.
