Tragic Collision Claims Life of Young Deputy in South Carolina

A young deputy from the Richland County Sheriff’s Office lost his life in a tragic on-duty crash on Friday. Deputy Jacob Eric Salrin, 23, of Hibiscus Columbia SC was turning at an intersection when his patrol vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer truck. He died at the scene of the collision.

Salrin joined the Richland County Sheriff’s Office in 2022 and graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in January. He was described by his colleagues as a dedicated and hardworking officer who always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his parents, siblings, and fiancée.
