Timothy John Gardner 34 of Sumter S.C. dies in electrocution accident

The name of the lineman who lost his life in a work-related accident has been released by the Kershaw County Coroner. According to Coroner David West, 34-year-old Timothy John Gardner died after being electrocuted on Tuesday morning. He was taken to MUSC Kershaw, where he was pronounced dead. Gardner was an employee of Black River Electric Cooperative. The CEO of Black River, Charlie Allen, said in a statement that Gardner was part of a crew working on Canty Hill road in Cassatt when he touched a piece of equipment that had become electrified. Allen said they tried to revive him until the paramedics arrived.
