Axis Transport explosion kills Angel Alaffa and Reynaldo Garcia

An explosion at a refinery in Pecos claimed the lives of two Starr County men on Saturday morning, the Pecos Police Department reported. The blast occurred at a work site located at 631 W I-20 around 10:14 a.m., where eight employees were present. The victims were identified as Reynaldo Garcia, 57, and Angel Alaffa, 30, both from Rio Grande City. The other six workers declined medical attention, according to a news release. The police are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
