Fatal Truck Crash in Howard County, TX Claims One Life, Injures Eight Others Howard County, TX — A truck crash involving three 18-wheelers and two passenger vehicles resulted in one fatality and eight injuries on November 9, 2023, around 9:15 p.m. on F.M. 33. According to authorities, the crash occurred when a westbound 18-wheeler driven by Fernando Alvarez, 51, veered into the opposite lane and hit another 18-wheeler traveling eastbound. The westbound 18-wheeler then continued to cross the center line and collided head-on with a passenger vehicle carrying Travis Larson and five other occupants. The impact caused the westbound 18-wheeler to jack-knife and block the eastbound lane, where a Chevy Malibu driven by Bailey Garcia and carrying one passenger crashed into the rear of the semi. Alvarez was ejected from his 18-wheeler and pronounced dead at the scene. Larson, Garcia, and their passengers were all injured and taken to local hospitals by emergency medical services. They were reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the eastbound 18-wheeler that was side-swiped was not injured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
